...The Hendersons will all be there, late of Pablo Fanques Fair; what a scene...
People who haven't decided on their ribbons: Rebecca (who's written to me), Chas. (who might not get them), Kim (who just got back and is a little out of breath), Mike (who I think is actually ordering for his convention, not for [info]laconiv), and Craig (who hasn't made up his mind if he wants them or not). Fish or cut bait, guys! Everyone else who's told me what they want, you have until Westercon's over -- the 5th of July -- to pay me; unpaid ribbons will not be ordered.

Fifteenth installment. Specific ribbons ordered once, and never reordered.

  • FUTURE LOSCON CHAIR
  • FUTURE WORLDCON CHAIR?
I ordered these in 2003, on two different occasions. I know Patrick Beckstead proudly wore at least one of them. But some people don't even want to joke about chairing a convention. Remember Stephen Boucher's famous line, "I don't want to run a NASFIC. I'd rather run a Worldcon"? And Erik V. Olson's response "If we give him money, it's a pre-support."

I was chair of Loscon in 2001; and in 1999 I was FGoH at Windycon. These two events are related, ribbon-wise; I was given a stack of "I Met the FGoH" ribbons to hand out when I was at Windycon, and I decided I would outfit my FGoH in a similar fashion. FGoH [info]figmo got "Honorary Relative of Lynn Gold," and Chris Butler (AGoH) got "Galactic Hitchhiker" if I remember correctly. (It's been a while, and I can't find my notes.) And we had ribbons that said "LASFS Member" too. I ordered plain ribbons -- I didn't pay extra to have "Loscon 28" printed on every single ribbon, because I felt that was redundant. (Also it allows leftover ribbons to be used the following year, if successive conventions follow the same policy.)

So the "LASFS MEMBER" ribbons, I first ordered in 2001, out of Loscon's budget; they were given to the person sitting at the LASFS table. They didn't use them all up, so there were some left for the following year to use at the table as well.

  • Galactic DUCT TAPE COUNCIL
  • It's what binds the universe together.
These were ordered in 2004, for Loscon, where the "Galactic Duct Tape Council" was one of the "sponsors" of Lux Theater's Spaceman's Home Companion show. We had both styles done in grey/silver.

  • MUGGLE
  • SQUIB
I had these printed in 2005, inspired in part by the "Hogwarts Alumni" ribbons that the Torcon 3 people (2003 Worldcon, in Toronto) were handing out at Noreascon 4 (2004 Worldcon, in Boston). They didn't move very fast, so I'm not getting any more done. Mind you, a number of people thought I meant have ones made up that say "MOOGLE"...
