Ribbon story part 36. Some more ribbons, mostly ordered in time for
laconiv.
- Fannishly Correct
- Panlogos
- Hall Singer
- Cool Hat Club
- Ear Club for Fen
- Skull Squad
While most people who ordered unofficial ribbons in time for the Worldcon ordered just one or two titles, a handful of people
were sparking off ideas left and right.
For example,
squiptryx
ordered five plain titles. Fannishly Correct has to do with being able to tell a joke well. (Or something like that.)
Panlogos relates to Panlogism. "Panlogism is the doctrine that rational thought can be found in an amazingly wide variety of places, and that rational thought should be valued, supported, encouraged and celebrated wherever it is found."
Martin also ordered Hall Singer ribbons. I don't think he realized how many filksingers would be at L.A.con IV! I'm sure that if he hung around the Filking floor at the Hilton, he would have used them all up by the second day...
Martin ordered plain Cool Hat Club and Ear Club for Fen ribbons, for fans with interesting things on their head. At his birthday party a few months
after the convention, I gave him a certificate good for
some fancy ribbons, his choice of title(s). He chose to re-order
these two. The hat is a dingbat from Mini Pics Classic. The typeface for the text is Blado.
Skull Squad was another fancy ribbon that I gave Martin as part of his birthday present. "Skull Squad" is for people with no hair. (Incidentally,
cfmiller shaved his head a few months ago. Not sure why. Maybe he got tired of buying shampoo?) I found the skull in
the typeface "Pirates Three" in a skull, crossbones, dagger and heart dingbat. I'm displaying the art inverted, because
that's approximately what it looks like when printed with black/silver. (Black ribbon, silver printing.)
