Had a lovely dinner with Pat Larson, seshat and fairegoddess at Zachary's Pizza in Berkeley. Deep dish pizza, fun conversation. Eric was off at the BASFA meeting, my sister Elaine goes to bed a bit too early, and nobody else called me, so it was just the four of us.
Then the long drive back to West Sacramento. For those who've assumed, no, I'm not in town for a convention. The Project Management crash-course I'm taking here has proved to be quite interesting. I haven't learned of any magic bullet for what I already know I need to do (break the project down into small identifiable chunks of work that needs to be done), but still I'm glad my company decided (Friday night) to send me here.
I'll be home in about 23 hours. I have determined that when I get home, I need to throw one or two twenty-dollar bills into my take-on-every-trip kit (toothpaste, business cards, phone charger etc.). I left town without enough pocket cash to take me through. And on this trip that's only been a quick dinner near LAX, maid tips, and a bridge toll coming back from Berkeley. This is the second time this sort of thing has happened, so I need to come up with some system. Either that or start carrying an ATM card around with me. (Or put the ATM card in the kit?)
