The photo of the LAX Theme Restaurant building with the scaffolding is taken from my recent trip to Sacramento (right). From Terminal 7, as I went to my United Express flight, in fact.

I went to Sacramento last week. West Sacramento, to be specific.Collapse ) Lindsay Tallman, Jeanne Goldfein at Zachary's Pizza I find that when I go to a strange town, I'm sometimes at a loss as to who do I know in the neighborhood. In this instance, for example, I completely forgot about Cat that I met at Anime Vegas. Oh well, it's not like we're long-time best buddies. I had a rental car and nothing much to do Monday night, so I met fairegoddess and seshat for dinner (left). The logical place to meet for dinner was Berkeley, near Pat's house...Collapse )

Mermaid/dolphin fountain at Ramada Inn, West Sacramento. The mermaid fountains at this Ramada Inn caught my eye. One fountain in front had a mermaid and three dolphins (left). There was a fountain on the Ramada's pool deck with three mermaids and some large seahorses (right). Ramada Inn, West Sacramento. Fountain with three mermaids.

When we were all done with our two-day course on Tuesday, I realized that I already had absorbed a lot of the fundamentals of project management over the years by running conventions.Collapse )

Colleen Crosby and some clothes she made. colleency and obishawn were so kind as to drive me to and from the airport. When we got back to their house, Colleen talked about how she thought she didn't have many new costumes to bring to costume_con -- just all these '30s and '40s and '50s-style clothes that she's made and wears to work. So maybe she does have some historical costumes to wear to the con after all! Here you see her with her 1930s Fried Green Tomatoes pants which she recently mentioned completing (left).
