Okay, a few more notes, then I'm getting back to work on the Costume-Con 26 Media Repository.
When I first heard that kproche and bovil had won their Costume-Con bid, I immediately contacted them and offered to work for them. The department I was thinking of, Con Suite, had already been spoken for, by galtine1. I learned that didjiman was heading up the Photography Department, and the rest you know.
So how did the Con Suite turn out? I think it was underfunded, and Sandra may have been overextended a little bit. (Which probably means I would have fallen flat on my face if I'd tried to do it, because I don't have long history, friends and relations in NorCal that she does.) I was surprised that it was so difficult to keep drinks cold. The cans of soda were in a plastic bin with a cautionary note explaining that the water had salt in it.
Okay, brine can help lower the temperature of your ice water... but it's still necessary to make sure that the bins stay iced. You might not do it as often, but you still have to do it! By the end of the convention, the cans were floating in not-very-cold water. I understand there may have been issues with the hotel's ice machines, but why not look up a local ice delivery place and get some ice delivered?
On the other hand, I was able to get something for breakfast every morning, and when I needed a Dr Pepper or a Coca-Cola it was usually possible to find one or the other. Did anyone go to the Tea they had in the Con Suite?
Status Report: The Costume-Con 26 Media Repository is slowly taking shape. I need some help from someone familiar with Gallery because I'd like to add a Photographer field. But I'm not letting that slow me down, because if I can get the photos up now I know I can add the photographers' names later. It's part of the filename, so it'll be a dead-easy SQL statement, come the day... Anyhow, if you know Gallery please buzz me.
